One of the oldest known wax beans. Golden Wax was first introduced sometime around 1871. There have been many variations over the years, but Golden Wax was also known as Topnotch or Rustproof Golden Wax. Golden Wax bean is a bush type plant that produces excellent yields of golden yellow wax beans. Good for northern climates as well as the south. Golden Wax bean plants are compact and they grow 40 cm (16") tall, with a spread of 25-30 cm (10-12”) wide, and produce delicious golden pods about 13-15 cm (5-6") long. Pods are string-less, straight, and possess a rich buttery flavor.

Soil Conditions: Well-drained soil that is fertile. Soil pH: 6.0-7.5 Planting Depth: Sow seeds 2.5-5cm (1-2”) deep. Germination: 7-10 days. Height at Maturity: 30-60cm (12-24”) tall. Days to Maturity: 50-60 days. Watering: Keep soil evenly moist. Sun/Shade: Full sun. Spacing after Thinning: Thin seedlings to 15-20cm (6-8”) apart.
