Growing Instructions:
Cucumbers are a popular garden vegetable that are easy to grow and produce an abundance of fruit in the right conditions. Cucumbers prefer full sun and well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before your last expected frost date, or direct sow seeds in the garden after all danger of frost has passed. Plant seeds 1-2cm (½-1”) deep, spaced 60-90cm (24-36”) apart in rows spaced 120-180cm (48-72”) apart. Cucumber plants require support to climb, such as trellises or fences. Water regularly and deeply, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer every 3-4 weeks during the growing season. Cucumbers are ready to harvest when they are dark green and about 15-20cm (6-8”) long. Pick cucumbers frequently to encourage more fruit production.
