Growing Instructions:

Plant Swiss chard seeds in a location that receives partial shade in hotter climates and full sun in cooler climates. Swiss chard prefers well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Soil pH should be between 6.0 and 7.5. Sow Swiss chard seeds 1-2cm (½-1 inch) deep, spaced 5-10cm (2-4 inches) apart in rows spaced 30cm (12 inches) apart. Keep the soil moist and cool to promote germination, which usually takes 7-14 days. Thin seedlings to 15-30cm (6-12 inches) apart when they are 5-7cm (2-3 inches) tall. Swiss chard requires consistent moisture throughout the growing season. Water regularly, but do not overwater. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season.

Harvest Swiss chard leaves when they are young and tender, usually after 30-60 days. Cut the outer leaves with a sharp knife, leaving the center of the plant intact so it can continue to produce new leaves. Swiss chard can be harvested continuously throughout the growing season.
