Sage is a hardy perennial herb that is easy to grow. Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Sage prefers soil with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Sow sage seeds 1cm (½”) deep in the spring or start with a small plant. Space plants 30-45cm (12-18”) apart to allow for growth. Water regularly to keep the soil moist, but not waterlogged. Sage is a low-maintenance plant that doesn't require much fertilization. However, if you want to fertilize, do so in the spring using a balanced fertilizer.

Sage can be harvested as needed once the plant is established, usually after the first year of growth. Harvest sage in the morning after the dew has dried. Cut the stems above the second set of leaves from the base of the plant. Sage can be used fresh or dried for later use. Soil Conditions: Well-drained soil.
